Welcome to Cristoff!

These Terms of Service (or “Terms”) govern your use of Cristoff, except where we expressly state that separate terms (and not these) apply, and provide information about the Cristoff Service (the “Service”), detailed below. By creating a Cristoff account or using Cristoff, you agree to these Terms

The Cristoff service

We agree to provide you with the Cristoff Service. The Service includes all Cristoff products, features, applications, services, technologies and software that we provide to you in order to promote Cristoff's mission: Creating an international student community.

Your commitments

In consideration of our commitment to providing you with the Service, we ask that you make the following commitments to us.

Who can use Cristoff?

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • You must be enrolled in a higher education establishment.
  • Your account must not have previously been disabled for violating the law or our policies.
  • You must not be a convicted sex offender.

Prohibited uses of Cristoff?

You may not impersonate others or provide false information.

You do not have to reveal your identity on Cristoff, but you must provide us with accurate and up-to-date information (including registration information), which may include providing personal data. You may not impersonate anyone or pretend to be something you are not, and you may not create an account for another person unless you have their express permission.

You may not do anything that is illegal, deceptive or fraudulent, or act for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose.
You may not violate (or assist or encourage others to violate) the Cristoff Community Rules.
You may not do anything that interferes with or harms the intended operation of the Service.

This includes misuse of any reporting, dispute or appeal channel, such as making fraudulent or unfounded reports or appeals.

You may not attempt to create accounts or otherwise collect or access information in an unauthorized manner.

This includes creating accounts or collecting information in an automated manner without our express permission.

You may not sell, license, or buy any account or data obtained from us or our Services.

This includes attempts to buy, sell or transfer any aspect of your account (including your username); solicit, collect or use other users’ login credentials or badges; or request or collect Cristoff usernames, passwords, or misappropriate access tokens.

You may not post another person's private or confidential information without authorization or do anything that violates another person's rights, including intellectual property rights (e.g. copyright infringement, infringement of a registered trademark, counterfeit or pirated products).

You may use another person's works subject to exceptions or limitations to copyright and related rights under applicable law. You represent that you own or have obtained all necessary rights to the content that you post or share.

You may not modify, translate, create derivative works of, or reverse engineer our products or their components.
You may not use a domain name or URL in your username without our prior written consent.

The permissions you grant to us

We do not claim ownership of your content, but you grant us a license to use it.

No changes are made to your rights to your content. We do not claim ownership of the content you post on or through the Service and you are free to share your content with anyone, anywhere. However, we require certain legal permissions from you (which we call a “license”) to provide the Service. When you share, post or upload content protected by intellectual property rights (such as photos or videos) on or in connection with our Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable and worldwide to host, use, distribute, modify, perform, copy, distribute or publicly display, translate and create derivative works of your content (in accordance with your privacy and application settings). The license terminates when your content is deleted from our systems. You can delete your content individually or all at once by deleting your account. You agree that we download and install updates to the Service on your device.

Additional Rights We Retain

  • If you choose a username or similar identifier for your account, we may change it if we believe it is appropriate or necessary to do so (for example, if it infringes someone's intellectual property one or impersonates another user).
  • If you use content covered by intellectual property rights that we own and make available in our Service (for example, images, designs, videos or sounds that we provide and that you add to content that you create or share), we retain all rights to our content (but not yours).
  • You must obtain our written permission or permission under an open-source license to modify, create derivative works of, decompile or otherwise attempt to extract our source code.

Remove and make access to content impossible or terminate your account.

1. We may remove or restrict any content or information you share on the Service if we believe it violates these Terms of Service or our policies (including our Cristoff Community Guidelines), or if the law requires us to do so. obliged. You will not be able to make this request if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms or if doing so gives rise to legal liability to us or a third party, harms our community of users, or compromises or impairs the integrity or operation of our services, systems or products, or in the event of technical restrictions or where we are prohibited from doing so for legal reasons.

When you request to delete content or your account, the deletion process will automatically begin within 30 days of your request. Removal of content may take up to 90 days after the removal process begins. Once the process of removing such content begins, the content is no longer visible to other users, but remains subject to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. Once content is deleted, it may take up to an additional 90 days to remove it from backup and disaster recovery systems.



2. Content will not be removed within 90 days of account deletion or the start of the content removal process in the following situations:

  • your content has been used by third parties in accordance with this license, and they have not removed it (in which case, this license continues to apply until the content is removed); Or
  • deletion within 90 days is not possible due to technical limitations of our systems, in which case we will delete it as soon as it is technically possible; Or removal would limit our ability to: :

    • identify or investigate illegal activities or violations of our terms and conditions and policies (for example, identify or investigate misuse of our products or systems);
    • protect the security of our products, systems and users; comply with a legal obligation, such as the preservation of evidence; Or
    • comply with the request of a judicial or administrative authority, law enforcement or a body governmental;

    in which case, the content will not be retained for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was retained (the exact duration varying on a case-by-case basis). If you delete or we deactivate your account, these Terms will terminate as an agreement between you and us, but this section and the section below called “Our Agreement and What Happens If We Disagree” will remain. applicable even after termination, deactivation, or deletion of your account.

Updating these Terms

We may change our Service and our policies, and we may need to make changes to these Terms to align them perfectly with our Service and our policies. Unless otherwise required by law, we will notify you (for example through our Service) at least 30 days before changing these Terms and give you an opportunity to review them before they take effect. You will then be bound by the updated Terms if you continue to use the Service. If you do not wish to accept these Terms or their update, you can delete your account.
